Rainy Season Activity: River Travel in Luang Namtha
Flowing from its source in
Luang Namtha Province’s northern hills the Nam Tha River is one of the main tributaries of the Mekong. Along its journey south it is joined by the Nam Ha River, which rises from the forests of the
Nam Ha National Protected Area. Traveling by river is one of the best ways to visit local people as well as spot wildlife. For adventuresome travelers, try a 2-day journey down the Namtha River to the Mekong, and then on to either Ban Houi Xay in
Bokeo Province or
Luang Prabang. For kayaking and rafting tours contact
